Heart Stories - Exploration to Celebration

  • Soul Tribe Yoga 8o Old Ridgefield Road Wilton, CT 06897 United States (map)

What if your story was the greatest power source of your life?

We all have stories - they become the narrative of our life. Some are BIG - some small. Some happy,  some sad. Sometime we are conscious of them and give them a voice. Other times we lock them away in the dungeon because they are just too ugly and painful to look at. Sometimes we are carrying around our stories and don't even know it.  Sometimes they aren't even our stories, but stories someone else told for us.

This profound and enlightening offering by  Vicky Cook and Beth Leas will be an exploration  of how to change our narrative and in so doing change the way we live our life.

"Everything changes once we identify with being the witness to the story, instead of the actor in it." ~ Ram Dass

How do you tell your story? We are all born into stories - stories about our conception, our history, about who we are supposed to become, about our parents and our families, about our world  Our history is simply our history.  Our stories or narrative is our interpretation of our history (or herstory) and is mutable and shapes who we are in this present moment and the choices we make going forward.

Over time your story may become quite different than it was at the beginning. The facts don't change but your narrative is flexible and can change -  going from a story of defeat to a story of victory.  You can reclaim your power by reframing your story in a way that gives your experience a new and empowering meaning.

"The telling and hearing of stories is a bonding ritual that breaks through illusions of separateness and activates a deep sense of our collective interdependence." - Annette Simmons

How is Heart Stories healing? Each of us is a constantly unfolding narrative - a hero in a novel no one else can write.  And yet so many of us have untold stories, songs unsung - and we wind up feeling disconnected - from ourselves and one another.

Sharing our stories while being witnessed with loving attention may be the most powerful medicine on the earth.  This process opens our hearts and connect us to others. This is the power in Heart Stories.  We transcend our stories and transform ourselves and one another. Because you are not alone.

The afternoon will include:

  • Reflective writing

  • Meditation

  • Connection

"I hope you will go out and let stories, that is life, happen to you, and that you will work with these stories... water them with your blood and tears and your laughter till they bloom, till you yourself burst into bloom." - Clarissa Pinkola Estes
